Hours

Dual Shifts, occasional/seasonal overtime.
Mechanics work all holidays that fall on weekdays, in all weather conditions.

Required

Experienced Diesel Mechanic

Mechanics are required to possess (or obtain with 3 months of hire date) and maintain a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Air brake certification; and CDL medical card.

Physical exam, pre-employment drug test, background checks, and agility test. SSC also conducts a random drug and alcohol test program. Applicants with a current CDL must also register online at FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Tasks

Performs mechanical repairs on Company gas, diesel and CNG vehicle fleet including garbage trucks, recycling trucks, and commercial pick-up and delivery vehicles. Also repairs and maintains brake systems, hydraulics and general vehicle maintenance.

Experience should include:

• Class 8 Diesel trucks
• A good understanding of 12V electrical systems
• An understanding of hydraulic systems
• Ability to weld and fabricate
• Ability to work and stay on task without constant guidance.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. overhead and do strenuous work.
• Ability to learn and improve
• Shouldn’t be afraid to get dirty.
• Will need own tools to perform expected job tasks.
